Butler University students win CICA essay contest

Harrison White and Bailey Sims have been awarded first place in the Butler University Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) student essay contest.

Having won the competition, titled Captive Insurance Solutions for Today’s Risk Management Challenges, the students have been awarded a US$2500 prize.

Second place went to Gracie Law and Sofia Davis of Temple University with a US$1500 prize, and third place was awarded to Brian Dunn and Rose Gendy of Middle Tennessee State University with US$1,000.

All finalists' essays will be published exclusively in the April issue of Captive Insurance Times

Commenting on the awards, CICA President Dan Towle says: “The experience of developing a captive solution helps (students) see the interesting and unique coverage challenges that captives address.”

Anne Marie Towle, CEO global risk and captive solutions at Hylant Global Captive Solutions, adds: “Once the students learn more about captive insurance, they carry that knowledge and interest with them and we hope they will consider working in the captive industry.”
