Asian financial forum attracts record numbers

More than 2,400 business leaders and senior government officials are have attended the first day of the seventh Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong.

The forum, which opened on January 13th at the Hong Kong convention and exhibition centre, has attracted delegates of senior executives from Australia, Canada, the Chinese mainland, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the US.

The future prospects on the Chinese mainland and throughout the Asian region will dominate the two-day forum.

The forum's opening session focused on Asia's growing role in the global economy. Session speakers included Jeroen Dijsselbloem, president of the Eurogroup and the Netherlands' minister of finance, and Alexey Moiseev, deputy finance minister of Russia.
