Pinebridge appoints head of insurance asset management

PineBridge Investments, a global multi-asset class manager, has appointed Stephan van Vliet as head of insurance asset management effective today.

In this newly-created position, Van Vliet’s appointment builds on PineBridge’s insurance asset management expertise.
He will be based in Hong Kong but will have a global role, leading PineBridge’s practice providing tailored investor solutions to insurance clients based on their corporate priorities as well as asset and liability profiles.

Van Vliet will report to both David Jiang, PineBridge’s global CEO, and Rajeev Mittal, CEO of Asia. He joins the firm from ING Insurance Asia-Pacific, where he was head of Investments, and responsible for the asset allocation of 10 Asian insurance companies.
Prior to that, he was head of insurance asset management at ING investment management in Europe.

Jiang said: “We are pleased to welcome Stephan to PineBridge. With 18 years of international experience, he is uniquely positioned in the confluence of asset management and insurance, bringing a dynamic perspective to this growing market segment.”

Van Vliet said: “I am excited to be joining PineBridge , a global firm, with a strong culture and heritage. As a multi-asset class firm, PineBridge’s investment strategies—including corporate credit, emerging markets focus and public and private equity-- are particularly suited for the insurance sector.”
