Raymond James acquires a majority stake in GreensLedge Holdings LLC, a boutique investment bank, to deepen its capital markets capabilities. The acquisition strengthens Raymond James's Capital Markets and Advisory platform by adding a firm known for its leadership in structured credit and securitisation. The acquisition formalises a longstanding relationship between the two firms. GreensLedge was founded in 2008 and has built a reputation for excellence by combining strategic advisory services with arranging CLOs, CDOs, ABS, and debt offerings—all financial products relevant to captive investment and capital efficiency strategies. Raymond James acquires the majority ownership stake, while Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group, Inc., a trusted GreensLedge partner, retains a minority interest. The closing of the acquisition is subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions, including regulatory approvals. Jim Bunn, president of Capital Markets and Advisory at Raymond James, says he is "excited to take this next step with the GreensLedge team". He adds, “Their specialised expertise in structured products, paired with our robust fixed-income distribution and trading capabilities, unites best-in-class strengths, forming a compelling strategic partnership. More importantly, our cultural alignment and collaborative spirit will drive innovation and deliver meaningful value to our institutional clients”. Strategic Fit and New Synergies GreensLedge is led by managing partners James “Jim” Kane, Brian Zeitlin, Lesley Goldwasser and Ken Wormser, who each bring decades of capital markets experience. Horace Carter, president of Fixed Income at Raymond James, notes that what distinguishes GreensLedge is its "nimble, capital-light model, which allows the firm to adapt quickly to changing market conditions and focus deeply on high-engagement opportunities". He calls their approach and mindset "a natural fit with Raymond James’ values and culture”. The partnership also opens the door to new synergies across Raymond James’ broader platform. This includes Raymond James Investment Management, Raymond James Bank, the Private Capital Advisory, Financial Services and Real Estate investment banking teams, and the Private Client Group’s ultra-high-net-worth offerings. Raymond James will also continue to explore collaborative opportunities within capital markets to build on GreensLedge’s strong existing partnership with Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group. Commenting on the deal, Jim Kane calls joining forces with Raymond James "a pivotal moment for our firm". He states, “Their expansive institutional distribution network, deep bench of expertise and client-first ethos align perfectly with our vision”. Brian Zeitlin adds, “After 17 years as an independent firm, we’re energised by the opportunities ahead and confident in the scale and growth we can achieve together”. Lesley Goldwasser shares, “We’re extremely proud of the business we have built over the years. Without our team’s trust and dedication, GreensLedge wouldn’t be where it is today,”. Ken Wormser concludes, “The decision to partner with Raymond James was made with our employees and clients foremost in our minds. We believe strongly in our shared vision for delivering service without compromise,”. Sullivan & Cromwell acts as legal advisor to Raymond James in connection with the transaction. Houlihan Lokey acts as financial advisor and Debevoise & Plimpton as legal advisor to GreensLedge.
