Matcha Launches AI-Led Captives for Industries to Keep Insurance Profit

San Francisco-headquartered technology company Matcha introduces a modern approach for industries to build and operate their own insurance companies, leveraging AI and machine learning (ML) to help clients retain more of their insurance profit. Matcha Services, a firm focused on specialty property & casualty and alternative risk, sponsors and administers industry-specific insurance companies—including captives and Risk Retention Groups (RRGs). The company runs these entities efficiently with technology and AI, with the core value proposition that it handles all administration while clients keep more of their insurance profit. "Every industry deserves control over its risk—we make that control practical," says Bernie Margulies, CEO of Matcha. Margulies adds: "We believe that businesses and industries understand their own risks better than outsiders do." By aligning incentives and controlling risk, organisations can modernise their risk programmes without taking on operational complexity. Margulies notes that Matcha partners with the best service providers while handling the technology, data, and day-to-day administration. Matcha’s team has over 100 collective years of insurance expertise, which it couples with deep knowledge of frontier technology, such as Agentic AI and LLMs. This technology streamlines workflows including onboarding, policy administration, claims, data quality, and reporting. The company integrates the work of its partners, which include licensed captive managers, actuarial firms, and TPAs, through software and interoperable systems. The service is designed for trade associations, vertical SaaS platforms, and mid-market companies, enabling them to participate directly in the economics of risk while improving transparency and control. Illia Kasian, CTO of Matcha, notes: "Clean data pipelines, interoperable systems, and AI-driven insights reduce leakage and give stakeholders the timely information they need to manage performance." "Insurance is changing, and alternative risk will keep expanding its role," says Brenden Reeves, COO of Matcha. He concludes: "With Matcha, organisations focus on growth while we ensure the engine runs."
