Dr. Jakubik joins the regulator with more than 25 years of international experience across the financial sector. In his new role, he is responsible for advancing CIMA’s research and analysis on financial stability matters and overseeing the compilation and dissemination of official statistics, areas vital for the jurisdiction's captive insurance and financial markets. Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Patrick Bodden, states that Dr. Jakubik’s background uniquely positions him to strengthen the Authority’s monitoring frameworks. “With his extensive background in financial stability and statistical development, Dr. Jakubik is uniquely positioned to support the Authority in strengthening its monitoring frameworks and responding proactively to emerging risks,” Mr. Bodden says. “His appointment reinforces our ongoing efforts to safeguard the Cayman Islands’ financial system and uphold its reputation as a dynamic and resilient international financial centre.” Prior to CIMA, Dr. Jakubik held senior positions at several major international organisations, including the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the IMF’s Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC), and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). At these institutions, he led financial stability assessments, economic research, and stress testing programmes. Dr. Jakubik also served as Chief Economist at the Czech National Bank. He holds two doctoral degrees in Finance and Economics and has an extensive record of policy-relevant publications on topics related to financial stability, including insurance and climate risk.
