Sompo announces Quane as CEO, International Markets

Commercial and consumer property and casualty provider of insurance and reinsurance, Sompo, has appointed Alessandrea (Alessa) Quane as its international markets CEO, subject to regulatory approval. Quane will report directly to the company’s property and casualty CEO, James Shea, and will be responsible for overseeing and managing Sompo’s commercial and consumer insurance operations outside of both North America and Japan. The regional management of the UK, continental Europe, including Turkey, Brazil, and APAC, excluding Japan, will report directly to Quane. With over three decades of industry experience, prior to joining Sompo, Quane held several senior positions, including chief insurance officer at Oscar Health, EVP and chief risk officer at AIG, in addition to being on the board of directors at AXA XL. Commenting on the move, Shea says: “I am delighted to welcome Alessa to Sompo. She is an outstanding insurance professional with a depth and range of experience across many aspects of the industry.” He believes Quane to be “the perfect choice to lead these critical businesses as well as exploring new opportunities to expand and deliver on our commitments to Sompo Holdings”.
