HDI Global has announced the appointment of Bob Van Alphen as the head of one of its two engineering underwriting teams, overseeing a team of six located in the company’s Hannover headquarters. Van Alphen will report to the global head of engineering, François Périquet, and is tasked with “expanding HDI Global’s value proposition in engineering underwriting”. His predecessor, Ralph Kehrbaum, will remain a member of the company’s team, aiding the transition and induction of Van Alphen. Beginning in 2014 as underwriter energy and construction at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, Van Alphen has amassed over a decade of experience, including various international roles at Allianz, in addition to his recent time at Everest Insurance. According to Van Alphen, his “previous experience of working in international roles for both an established lead carrier and an insurance startup has given me a broad perspective on the engineering insurance market”. Périquet, meanwhile, says he is “pleased to have Bob taking over the role as head of engineering underwriting,” adding that “he brings strong expertise, international experience and a fresh perspective to the role”.
