Collaborative educational institutions group edHEALTH — designed to provide healthcare-related savings and services through group purchasing, ownership, and data-driven programmes — has announced Assumption University, Massachusetts, will join the group effective September 1 2025. edHEALTH was created to “help bend the trend in rising employee healthcare costs at colleges and universities,” launching with six Massachusetts educational institutions in 2013, which has since grown to 29 member-owners. The programme is also part of a sponsored captive domiciled in Vermont, edRISK, and has over US$300 million of annual funding, with approximately US$19 million of capital reserves at the stop-loss captive. Assumption University — a catholic, co-ed institution, founded in 1904 — offers a classic liberal arts education, including programmes in business, healthcare, and professional studies, with 37 majors and 49 minors to choose from. edHealth president and CEO, A. Tracy Hassett, feels that “having another Central Massachusetts school join edHEALTH is so fantastic,” adding its “unique perspectives and contributions of Assumption’s leadership team will also be a welcome addition”. Jane Clapp, Assumption University’s vice president for Finance and Administration and chief financial officer, believes that the institution “could benefit from joining a larger educational collaborative”. She goes on to say that Assumption’s “faculty and staff are the University’s greatest institutional asset, and together with the edHEALTH network, we will be able to do more to support them with better healthcare experiences”.
