Ariel Re to establish Bermuda syndicate

Ariel Re has been afforded ‘in principle’ approval to establish its Syndicate 2006, from Lloyd’s of London. The company will be separating its Lloyd’s business into two syndicates — Syndicate 1910 and Syndicate 2006, with the latter being named to commemorate Ariel’s 20th year of business. The new syndicate will have property catastrophe, other property, marine and speciality, cyber, and clean energy business, which will trade as Ariel Green, with the company’s current syndicate, 1910, only underwriting property catastrophe reinsurance from 2026. Ariel plans to begin quoting on behalf of Syndicate 2006 on 1 December 2025, for binding effective 1 January 2026. Managing agency managing director, Darren Lednor, says the company is “excited to expand our presence in the Lloyd’s market with the launch of Syndicate 2006,” adding “we are seeking to better appeal to the demands of our target capital base by offering differentiated investment products”.
