HDI Global has announced Stephanie Bode as its new head of reinsurance at HDI Global, assuming responsibility for the corporate and specialty lines department within Talanx Group reinsurance, serving dual capacity. Her current reporting line to HDI Global chief financial officer Dr Stefan Pasternak will be expanded with additional reporting to the head of Talanx Group reinsurance, Oliver Grabau. Bode will assume the responsibilities of the former reinsurance head, Rainer Fischer, who is retiring after nine years in the position, although Fischer will remain with the company in an advisory capacity. She will also take over from Antje Pfitzner at Talanx group, with Pfitzner transitioning into the role of head of group reinsurance retail and group protection and counterparty risk management. Prior to her new role, Bode oversaw market management for continental Europe (excluding Germany), South Africa, and Japan in David Hullin’s executive department at HDI Global. Grabau believes that Stephanie’s new role will allow the group to “respond more quickly and flexibly to market changes in reinsurance purchasing,” adding that her expanded role will allow for “improved coordination,” leading to better results and a strengthened market position. Pasternak adds: “Stephanie is a proven expert in the international insurance and reinsurance markets and knows our portfolio inside out”. He believes that “aligning the teams under one leadership will help us to reduce duplication, enhance market presence, and ensure a seamless communication across our global operations”.
