Howden Re appoints Wong as head of treaty for Hong Kong

Howden’s reinsurance, capital markets, and strategic advisory division, Howden Re, has announced the appointment of Candy Wong as head of treaty for Hong Kong. In her new role, Wong will lead the Hong Kong office, which the firm says is focused on developing and delivering the firm’s treaty reinsurance proposition. She can draw on over 40 years of experience in reinsurance, half of which includes leadership roles within the Hong Kong market. Wong joins the firm from Guy Carpenter following its merger with JLT Re, where she served as a managing director — a position in which she led strategic growth initiatives and client development. Andy Souter, head of Asia Pacific at Howden Re International, comments: “Candy is one of the most experienced and trusted professionals in the Hong Kong reinsurance market. Her deep expertise, leadership credentials, and client insight make her a vital addition to our growing platform.” Her employment follows a series of successive appointments in APAC for Howden, which include recent moves in Australia, New Zealand, and Taiwan, as part of the firm's broader expansion plans within the region. Wong says: “I am excited to join Howden Re at such an exciting time for its business in Asia Pacific. I look forward to working closely with Roy and the broader leadership team to help build a treaty proposition that reflects the needs and ambitions of Hong Kong clients.”
