AXIS Capital Holdings has named Matthew Kirk as its next chief financial officer (CFO), succeeding Peter Vogt in March 2026 as part of a planned leadership transition. Kirk will join the company in the fourth quarter of 2025, initially serving in an advisory capacity before assuming the CFO role. Based in New York, he will report to president and CEO Vince Tizzio and serve on the executive committee. With three decades of experience in insurance, finance, and accounting, Kirk currently serves as CFO of Enstar Group, overseeing its global finance functions. He previously held senior roles at Sirius International Insurance Group, including group treasurer and president and managing director of Sirius Investment Advisors, and began his career at Arthur Andersen. Commenting on the appointment, Tizzio says: “In Matt, we are bringing onboard a highly accomplished global finance leader with the experience necessary to help propel our success further. He has a track record of driving growth, delivering strong capital management, and leading finance modernisation initiatives that enhance productivity and efficiency on a global scale.” Vogt, who will act as a strategic advisor to AXIS through the end of 2026, adds: “With key phases of the transformation work now complete or in progress, and having been at AXIS for 15 years, this is a natural time for a transition. I feel confident knowing that I’ll be leaving the company in highly capable hands with Matt as our future CFO.”
