Sage Advisory and Cedar Trace partner on ILS-credit solutions

Sage Advisory Services and Cedar Trace Group have formed a collaboration to offer investment products combining insurance-linked securities with credit opportunities, targeting institutional investors seeking portfolio diversification. The firms say the partnership merges Sage's fixed income and credit expertise with Cedar Trace's capabilities in ILS, catastrophe bonds, and reinsurance risk transfer. The jointly advised portfolios aim to deliver lower-correlated, yield-enhancing strategies for institutional investors, family offices and asset allocators. For captive managers and risk professionals, the collaboration represents growing convergence between traditional credit markets and insurance risk transfer mechanisms. The products provide alternative risk solutions that could complement traditional captive insurance programmes whilst offering yield enhancement opportunities. “Sage's nearly three decades of fixed income expertise, paired with Cedar Trace's unparalleled ILS capabilities, will create a powerful solution for investors seeking stability and enhanced returns,” says Robert G. Smith, president of Sage Advisory Services. Lawrence Minicone, chief executive at Cedar Trace, highlighted the partnership's focus on risk-adjusted returns. “By combining our ILS capabilities with Sage's credit and fixed income proficiency, we are aiming to deliver enhancing and diversifying risk-adjusted returns to investors,” he notes. The Bermuda-based Cedar Trace Group brings established reinsurance market expertise to the partnership, while Austin-based Sage Advisory Services contributes nearly 30 years of fixed income and alternative solutions experience. For captive insurance buyers and alternative risk transfer specialists, the products offer potential diversification benefits through exposure to uncorrelated insurance risks alongside traditional credit instruments. The solutions could appeal to sophisticated risk managers seeking yield enhancement whilst maintaining portfolio stability through diversified risk exposures across insurance and credit markets.
