BMS Group acquires boutique Australian property broker

BMS Group has completed the acquisition of Queensland-based Corporate and Commercial Insurance Brokers, further expanding its footprint in the Australian market. Founded in 2006, the boutique brokerage provides risk management and insurance broking services to large, privately owned businesses across Australia’s east coast. Jeremy Murfin, founder and director of Corporate and Commercial, will become client director for BMS Australia and report to Stephen Moore, managing director of BMS Risk Solutions QLD. Murfin will also join the BMS Australian executive leadership team as part of the integration. The acquisition follows a series of international transactions by BMS, including its purchase of Spanish broker Rasher and its Latin American subsidiaries earlier this year, as well as UAE-based Berms Brett Masaood, now operating as BMS Masaood. Andrew Godden, CEO of BMS Australia, says the long-standing relationship with Murfin makes this an ideal addition to the group. He adds: “With his depth of experience in the specialist property space and his exceptional risk management and advisory skills, he has built an outstanding business over the last two decades with clients up and down the east coast of Australia. “He is now becoming a valuable member of the BMS team, and we look forward to working with him to continue developing specialty solutions for our clients.” Murfin says the decision to join BMS enhances client service while supporting future growth. “We build our business on being able to engage closely with and think and respond dynamically to our clients,” he notes. “The alignment with the culture, structure and resources within BMS — and the decision to join them while continuing and enhancing client service delivery — offers a better proposition to clients going forward.”
