Philipp Rüede has been appointed CEO of SCOR Life & Health (L&H) and member of the group’s executive committee, effective 1 June. He replaces Frieder Knüpling, who stepped down from the role in July 2024. Rüede’s initial priorities will include steering new business development, securing and delivering value from in-force portfolios, and improving the segment’s cash profile. He brings more than two decades of experience across banking and reinsurance, having held senior roles at Bank Vontobel, Credit Suisse First Boston, Arbillon Capital, and Swiss Re. At Swiss Re, Rüede led capital management and structured solutions across both Property & Casualty (P&C) and L&H lines, most recently heading the Alternative Capital Partners team. A dual Swiss and German national, he is a graduate of École Polytechnique in Paris and holds a Master’s degree in engineering from ETH Zürich. SCOR CEO Thierry Léger says: “With his extensive experience and wide-ranging expertise, Philipp has all the qualities required to continue the transformation of our L&H business, restore its profitability, and improve its cash profile.”
