Managing general agent XS Global has launched its operating unit in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), led by Stephen Saunders. The new team is also supported by Jawad Ghunaim as chief underwriting officer, who has 20 years of experience in the industry. Additionally, Sana Memon joins the team from Zurich, bringing over 15 years of underwriting experience. After being granted a full licence to operate within the DIFC, XS Global initially offers solutions to clients in the natural resources sectors, including upstream, downstream, power generation, and renewable energy, in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and APAC. According to the firm, the new office aligns with its expansion plan and enhances its geographical reach. It provides opportunities to deploy reinsurance capacity directly to corporates and retail brokers through expert, locally-based underwriters. Saunders says: “XS Global is an established MGA with a significant portfolio underwritten through its twelve lines of business, supported by its experienced claims and operations teams. “I am looking forward to maximising our platform and deploying our comprehensive reinsurance capacity offerings in the region.”
