Bermuda-based Hamilton Re has promoted Peter Riihiluoma as senior vice president and head of specialty reinsurance at Hamilton Re. He will report to Hamilton Re chief underwriting officer Tim Duffin, effective from 1 January 2024. Riihiluoma currently serves as vice president and will succeed Richard Sammons in the role, who will relocate back to the UK next year. He has held underwriting, pricing and portfolio management responsibilities across a portfolio of specialty reinsurance lines since joining Hamilton in 2019. Prior to Hamilton, Riihiluoma was with Chubb for nine years, most recently as vice president of ceded reinsurance in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This comes as part of the company's strategic succession planning, Hamilton says, demonstrating its commitment to recognising and nurturing talent within its team. Commenting on the hire, Hamilton Re CEO Megan Thomas says: “[Riihiluoma] has been an integral part of the Hamilton team and his skills and market awareness make him the perfect fit to be promoted to this leadership role. We are confident Peter will continue to excel in his new capacity.”
