Specialty reinsurer Canopius Group has appointed Charles Cooper as global head of reinsurance and CEO of Bermuda. Joining Canopius on 1 September, Cooper will report to the group’s CEO Neil Robertson. In his new role, Cooper will drive Canopius’ global reinsurance strategy and develop its Bermuda platform — which was established in 2007. Cooper has worked in the Bermudian reinsurance sector for almost 20 years. Cooper most recently served as AXA XL’s chief executive for reinsurance in Bermuda, a role he began in 2017. Commenting on his new role, Cooper says: “I am looking forward to leading a very talented team of reinsurance professionals across Canopius’s businesses in London, APAC and here in Bermuda.” Canopius has also appointed Isabel Finn as a senior cyber threat intelligence analyst. Finn will work with Mathin Ahmadi, head of cyber insights and analytics, to launch Canopius’ new threat consultancy service. Fiinn joins Canopius from FTI Consulting, where she was a threat intelligence consultant. Canopius says the new practice will “provide support for insureds, including counsel on appropriate enhancements to their cybersecurity defences and market-leading analytics to design bespoke risk mitigation programmes.”
