BMS Re bolsters global facultative practice with property hires

BMS Re has appointed Steve Housse as managing director and facultative practice lead. The company, which is the specialty reinsurance arm of BMS, has also appointed Dan Shea as senior vice president of property facultative. Both Housse and Shea will be based in Atlanta, Georgia. Housse has more than 20 years’ industry experience. He joins BMS Re from Guy Carpenter where he led the US property practice. In his new role, Housse will spearhead the expansion of the company’s US property and energy offering. Shea joins from Lockton Re, he also has over 20 years industry experience with knowledge of the hybrid, facultative obligatory and industrial sectors. As global leads, Housse and Elliott will work in partnership with the group’s business leaders to build a global facultative network. Additionally, James Elliott will be joining BMS Re as managing director and facultative practice lead. Based in London, he will take on this role after his current contractual obligations are completed in March 2024. Elliott currently serves as managing director at Gallagher Re. Commenting on the new hires, Ian Gormley, UK CEO of BMS Group, says: “We are thrilled to welcome Steve, Dan and James to BMS Re. The global facultative practice initiative will revolutionise the way that we work with insurance and reinsurance clients alike across BMS and the global market.”
