Marsh’s reinsurer Guy Carpenter has appointed Laurent Rosseau to CEO of EMEA and global capital solutions. Rousseau’s newly created role will become effective from 4 September. Rousseau will have executive oversight of the company's businesses in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, as well as GC Securities and Global Risk Solutions. Based in London, he will report to Dean Klisura, Guy Carpenter, president and CEO, and will join the Guy Carpenter executive committee. Additionally, Rousseau will work with Marsh McLennan’s other businesses — Marsh, Mercer and Oliver Wyman. Rousseau joins Guy Carpenter after a 13-year tenure at London-based reinsurer SCOR, where he was CEO. In this role, he led the company amidst volatile market conditions. Other leadership roles he held there include deputy CEO of global property and casualty and chief underwriting officer property and casualty. Prior to that, Rousseau was in JP Morgan’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group in London from 2005 to 2010, where he specialised in financial institutions. Klisura comments: “We are excited to have Laurent join our team. He is a seasoned professional and is widely recognised for his (re)insurance expertise. Laurent’s leadership experience and strong track record in driving growth will be a great asset as we continue to help our clients meet their unique needs and execute our growth strategy.”
