Aon, the professional services firm, has appointed Sarah E. Smith to its board of directors. Smith is a former member of the management committee of The Goldmans Sachs Group. Smith joined Goldman Sachs in 1996 and was named managing director two years later, and partner in 2002. During her tenure at Goldman Sachs, Smith served in a variety of roles including chief accounting officer, chief compliance officer and was most recently senior advisor. Aon’s board says Smith’s appointment will “enhance [its] Board’s financial and regulatory expertise.” Commenting on her new role, Smith says: "I am excited to join Aon's board at a time when there is significant opportunity to help organisations make better decisions as they face heightened volatility and interconnected risks in every facet of their operations."
