The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has partnered with Lloyd’s of London as part of a wider effort to help drive technological innovation and insurance solutions. Established in 1688, Lloyd’s is a specialist insurance and reinsurance marketplace. It works with more than 50 insurance companies, over 380 registered brokers, and has a global network of more than 4000 local cover holders operating daily in its market. BIBA is a general insurance intermediary organisation that represents the interests of insurance brokers, intermediaries and their customers. Its membership includes around 1800 regulated firms. As part of the new mandate, BIBA and Lloyd’s will host two one-day forums in Birmingham and Manchester to help brokers learn more about doing business in Lloyd’s market. Commenting on the partnership, Dawn Miller, Lloyd’s commercial director says: “Brokers are a vital distribution channel for the Lloyd’s market. The new partnership will also provide opportunities which will enhance access to Lloyd’s for BIBA members.”
