The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance (TDCI) has appointed Mark Wiedeman as director of captive insurance. He joins the organisation from contract insurance examinations and captives insurance consulting business, Regulatory Resource Consulting LLC. Wiedeman will remain president of the consulting business as he embarks on his new position with TDCI — a firm that regulates captive insurance companies. Prior to starting his consulting business, Wiedeman held a 10-year term with the Utah Insurance Department. He held a number of positions during his tenure, including his most recent role as assistant director of captive insurance. Previously, Wiedeman was a valuation analyst at Utah State Tax Commission from 2005 to 2012. TDCI commissioner Carter Lawrence says: “Mark’s proven leadership and sterling reputation in the captive insurance industry will build on our momentum as a first-choice domicile for captive insurance companies domestically and internationally.” Wiedeman adds: “Tennessee has a great reputation among captive domiciles. I join Tennessee’s team where I will work to help them continue in their success. “My goal is to maintain a regulatory structure that allows for stable and sustainable growth while giving captive companies a domicile in which they can succeed in providing their parent companies with innovative insurance products.”
