Mosaic Insurance (Mosaic) has made three appointments to lead its newly-launched global environmental liability division. The specialty underwriting unit will be led by Jim Finnamore, who is joined by environmental specialists David Barr and William Campbell. Mosaic’s new division will provide environmental liability coverage and syndicated capacity from trade partners, with an initial maximum capacity of US$25 million. The company is also focusing on supporting companies transitioning to more sustainable operations. Firms from sectors including oil and gas, metal mining and power generation will be protected against the risk of costs and liabilities resulting from their activities causing environmental damage. Additionally, financial institutions impacted by indirect, contingent liability targeting lenders, advisors, and insolvency practitioners will be covered. Mark Wheeler, co-CEO and co-founder of Mosaic, says: “We have envisioned this division from the outset as a natural progression in Mosaic’s growth. It is exciting to bring leading capacity and deep expertise to address some of the world’s most relevant risks in this arena.” Commenting on his appointment, Finnamore adds: “Mosaic’s agility as a new company aligns with our division’s need to be flexible in a rapidly evolving landscape. Environmental risks have never been more relevant and challenging to companies as they are today, and we envision complementary synergies with Mosaic’s transactional liability, professional liability, and other business lines.”
