AGCS appoints Tom Major as regional head of claims for UK and Nordics

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed Tom Major as regional head of claims for regional units London and Nordics, effective 1 June. Major succeeds Lars Vissing who has left the company to become head of claims, Nordic and Russia at insurance company AIG. Based in London, Major will be responsible for AGCS’ claims services business across the UK, Ireland, and Nordics with responsibility for overseeing the claims service across the three regions. Major will report to Nadia Côté and chief claims officer, Thomas Sepp. Côté joined AGCS as managing director of regional units London and Nordics on 3 May. Since first joining AGCS almost ten years ago, Major has worked in a variety of senior roles. Major began his career at AGCS as business strategy analyst in the energy and marine teams, and then became a junior underwriter in construction. Following this, he became an underwriter and subsequently, senior underwriter. Major moved to claims and became head of property, energy and construction claims (UK) at AGCS in April 2020. Prior to working in insurance, Major was an officer in the British Army for six years. Commenting on Major’s appointment, Sepp said: “This appointment further demonstrates Allianz’s commitment to nurturing and developing our employees, highlights the strength of our internal talent and means we continue to be expertly positioned to support our clients’ needs. I very much look forward to continuing to work together with Tom in his new role.”
