Concert Group makes actuarial leadership hire

Concert Group Holdings has appointed Sam LaDuca as chief actuary, effective 1 April. In his new role at the insurance fronting company, LaDuca will report to CEO Jonathan Reiss. LaDuca most recently served as executive vice president of product, underwriting and actuarial at Merchants Insurance Group. He held a variety of positions at the group over 25 years, including senior leadership roles in product management, corporate programmes, corporate underwriting and finance. Before Merchants Insurance, LaDuca was a senior consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers’ casualty actuarial and risk management practice. Commenting on the appointment, Reiss says: “With Sam’s hire, Concert’s full executive team is now in place. He is an excellent addition, bringing broad operational capabilities and underwriting leadership in addition to his extensive actuarial experience. “We feel our successful recruitment of top talent, as well as the market’s keen interest in doing business with us, are testament to Concert’s vision of being a new kind of fronting company.” Reiss notes the recent expansion of Concert Group, originally formed in June 2021, with the launch of Concert Specialty Insurance Company, an excess and surplus lines carrier that began underwriting last December.
