Swiss Re reorganises casualty leadership

Swiss Re has appointed Julie Stephenson as global head of casualty to replace Jason Richards who has been named as country president and CEO for the UK and Ireland. These changes to the firm’s reinsurance business unit are effective 1 January 2022. Swiss Re Group provides insurance, reinsurance and insurance-based risk transfer solutions across a broad range of risk categories. The firm’s retrospective solutions division includes captive insurance and risk retention groups, while Swiss Re Capital Markets has previously structured and placed insurance-linked securities cat bonds. In his new role, Richards will be responsible for encouraging profitable growth in the company’s UK and Ireland reinsurance portfolio, particularly in the London market. During his time as global head of casualty, Richards oversaw the growth and improved quality of Swiss Re’s casualty portfolio and property and casualty transactions portfolio. Stephenson will join Swiss Re from CNA, where she currently serves as senior vice president and chief operating officer, middle market. Moses Ojeisekhoba, CEO of reinsurance at Swiss Re, comments: “Jason Richards will bring a wealth of experience and strong track record to lead the important UK and Ireland market.
