The North Carolina Captive Insurance Association (NCCIA) board has named Matt Holycross of Taft Companies as chairman for the 2021/22 term. The NCCIA board has also elected Diana Hardy of R&H CPA’s as vice-chair, Morgan Doughty of Atlas as secretary and David Littlehale of SRS as treasurer. Holycross will replace the current chair Lea Riddle of McGriff, who was appointed as chair in September 2019. Mickey Payseur of Butler & Stowe and Wesley Deaton of Deaton Law Firm are also leaving the board. Elected to follow Riddle, Payseur and Deaton were Littlehale, Rosa Garcia of Management Services International and Nate Reznicek of International-Re, who can serve for one, three-year term. Commenting on his new role, Holycross says: “I am excited to have the opportunity to lead this dynamic association in America’s fastest growing captive domicile.” “During the year I expect the board will concentrate on driving growth, in conjunction with the North Carolina Department of Insurance (NCDOI), to the state. It’s a great place to do business,” he adds. NCCIA president and CEO Tom Adams, notes: “This is a bittersweet day. We are losing three great board members. Our chair Lea Riddle, secretary, Mickey Payseur and Wesley Deaton are all leaving the board. Trust me, they will be missed.” “I can’t let Lea Riddle get away without telling you how much he has meant to the association. He has been there for us during the COVID-19 crisis and provided magnificent leadership. Thank you, Lea.” Adams concludes. In July 2020, the NCCIA rescheduled conference was cancelled due to complications from COVID-19. The NCCIA 2021 Annual Conference will kick off on 30 August until 1 September at Durham’s Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club as an in-person event.
