DWF appoints Jonathan Drake as partner

DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has appointed Jonathan Drake as a partner to head up its expanding non-contentious insurance advisory practice. Drake moved to DWF from Womble Bond Dickinson where he served as head of insurance. Joining DWF's London office, Drake has worked in London for more than 30 years in both private practice, including stints at Clyde & Co, Dentons and Ashurst, and as in-house general counsel for over 10 years within the insurance industry. His expertise covers Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Lloyd's regulatory matters, insurance and reinsurance policy wordings, run off and restructuring, cross-border and international advice, distribution, terms of business and other commercial agreements, captive insurance/risk management arrangements, compliance and conduct risk. He has also acted on a number of high profile insurance market transactions and has advised on the run off of various insurance companies. Commenting on the hiring of Drake, Claire Bowler, global insurance sector head, says: "Jonathan Drake is a well-known senior figure in the insurance industry and we are delighted that he is joining DWF to further widen the non-contentious offering for our insurance clients.” She adds: “He will help drive the growth of our work with insurance general counsel and risk and compliance teams, along with advising insurance boards on key areas for their business."
