National Interstate Insurance Company has promoted Christopher Mikolay to senior vice president, specialty division and Daniel Keenan to vice president, national accounts. Mikolay will assume leadership responsibility for National Interstate’s specialty division and the Hawaii office. He joined National Interstate in 2007 as a product manager and has held various positions of increasing responsibility. After leading and launching several captive programmes within the alternative products division, he held the position of director of sales and marketing for National Interstate. For the last several years, he has been instrumental in the formation, management and growth of the National accounts division and managed the truck captive programmes and business development team. Meanwhile, Keenan will assume leadership of the national accounts division, which insures some of the company’s largest and most complex risks. He joined National Interstate in 2006, holding key management positions in several divisions. Keenan was director of business development from 2011 to 2015 at the vanliner division, where he played a key role in the formation and growth of several captive insurance programmes for the moving and storage industry. Most recently, he served as assistant vice president in the specialty division. Commenting on the two promotions, Shawn Los, executive vice-president, National Interstate, says: “We are fortunate to have such talented individuals in our organisation, and I am thrilled for Chris Mikolay and Dan Keenan.” “At National Interstate we are focused on serving the unique needs of our niche customer groups; this change and increase in each of their responsibilities allow us to leverage their broad skills to do so,” Los adds. Los was promoted as executive vice president of National Interstate in early March.
