Tysers hires two reinsurance specialists

Tysers, an independent Lloyd’s broker, has hired Jane Smart and Cameron Nicholas to build out its Asia and Australasia marine and aviation team.

Smart has joined Tysers from Swiss Re Asia to focus on innovative solutions while Nicholas will join the firm in January 2021 from Aon Re to develop the marine treaty business.

Based in London, both hires are associate directors and will work within the reinsurance team.

Smart has more than 20 years of experience in the reinsurance sector and has worked as a broker and reinsurer in multiple international territories.

Tysers suggested that Smart’s market insight and product knowledge will enhance its client solutions with a focus on alternative risk transfer, retrospective and prospective cover and parametric products.

Most recently, Nicholas was head of production and marketing at Aon Re. Tysers noted that his extensive experience will help to strengthen the firm’s ability to provide clients with optimal reinsurance solutions.

Tom Wilson, managing director of Tysers marine and aviation, commented: “We are delighted that Jane Smart is joining Tysers. Her understanding of the underwriting appetites and requirements of the major reinsurers will be invaluable in producing innovative solutions for our clients that are both effective and realisable.”

He added: “Cameron Nicholas will be a fantastic addition to our international reinsurance team and will help us to build further and develop our reinsurance portfolio following the recent integration of the RFIB and Tysers teams.”
