Christopher Lay, Julian Enoizi and Anthony Baldwin have been named by the Insurance Institute of London (IIL) as its new officers for 2020 to 2021.
As part of the election Lay, CEO of UK and Ireland at Marsh, has been appointed deputy president-designate.
During his more than 30-year career with Marsh, Lay has held a variety of senior leadership positions in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), North America, and globally.
Lay's international and global leadership roles include leading business development for the international division including the employee health and benefits in international, head of global sales, and president of Marsh Captive Solutions.
Elsewhere, Baldwin has been elected as the new president, succeeding Charles Berry, chair of BPL Global.
Baldwin is CEO and leads the executive committee of AIG UK. He works with the board and senior management to formulate the firm’s profitable growth strategies for the UK.
He has served at AIG for over 20 years previously serving as CEO of AIG Europe and before that as managing director field operations, EMEA.
Enoizi, CEO at Pool Re, will take on the role of deputy president.
Joining Pool Re in September 2013, Enoizi was mandated to bring a fresh perspective to a company that had changed little since its formation in 1993.
He has also worked on the renegotiation of Pool Re’s relationship with HM Treasury, the introduction of a more sophisticated underwriting proposition requiring an amendment to an Act of Parliament, the purchase of the world’s largest terrorism retrocession programme; the launch of the world’s first terrorism catastrophe bond and significant investment into a partnership with the Home Office in respect of risk mitigation projects.
Commenting on his election, Lay said: “I’m delighted to take on the position of deputy president-designate and have the opportunity to serve the IIL and support its vital work. I’d like to thank the vice presidents and council for electing me. I’d also like to thank Charles Berry for his excellent leadership, and to congratulate Anthony Baldwin and Julian Enoizi on their elections.”
He continued: “At this time of immense challenge and opportunities, our industry has a critical role to play in ensuring we can capture the possibilities ahead. I look forward to working with the members and council to maintain the vibrancy and success of the Institute.”
