Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers (BILTIR) has been accepted as a member of the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA).
On 3 June, GFIA unanimously accepted BILTIR as a member at its virtual general assembly.
GFIA has 41 member associations representing 89 percent of global insurance premiums worldwide.
The association is a non-profit association which serves national and regional insurance associations in the life, health, general insurance and reinsurance sectors, and represents them to national governments and international regulators.
BILTIR represents 61 long-term insurance, reinsurance and servicing companies in Bermuda who provide life and annuity products and employ 540 people on the island
Ronnie Klein, BILTIR executive director, said: “GFIA is a world-renowned association that endeavours to support insurance activities globally.”
Klein added: “BILTIR is honoured to become its 41st member and we are eager to join many of the working committees to learn and contribute.”
