Tennessee governer Bill Lee has named Hodgen Mainda as the new commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI), effective 1 October.
Commenting on the appointment, Lee said: “Hodgen Mainda joins my cabinet after an outstanding career as a community leader in Chattanooga.”
Lee added: “He is respected for his ability to build partnerships across multiple sectors and we welcome his leadership to such a multifaceted department like commerce and insurance.”
Mainda takes on the new role from Julie Mix McPeak, who stepped down on 14 June to pursue career opportunities in the private sector.
Deputy commissioner Carter Lawrence has served as the department’s interim commissioner since McPeak stepped down.
