Atlas Insurance PCC has promoted Ian-Edward Stafrace to chief strategy officer.
Stafrace has spent almost 19 years at Atlas, having joined as an executive in October 2000.
He was made chief risk and compliance officer in 2009, a role he held until he was promoted to his new role in March this year.
In his new role, Stafrace is responsible for international business coordination, including protected cells with insurtech, captive or traditional direct writing business models, and is head of business intelligence.
He is also an executive committee member, an IT board committee member, and a risk and compliance board committee member.
Stafrace will continue to work out of Atlas’ Malta office.
Concurrently, he is a risk manager and chair of the risk and regulatory committee at Merill SICAV and is board director and past president of the Malta Association of Risk Management.
Stafrace commented: "My role is moving on from the more specific functions of risk and compliance to helping challenge, innovate and evolve the wider strategy of the Atlas Group and aligning culture, teams, and initiatives to that strategy."
"This includes international business and our digital strategy that also covers the Malta domestic market where Atlas is one of the lead insurers."
