BevCap adds Hoppe as director of claims and risk management

BevCap Management, a programme manager for a number of captive insurance companies and national guaranteed cost programmes, has appointed Curtis Hoppe as director of claims and risk management.

In his new role, Hoppe will be responsible for BevCap’s national accounts, middle market, and alternative risk clients.

He will also lead the company’s claim advocacy and the consulting efforts of the multiple captive insurance companies it manages.

BevCap currently manages seven captive companies in Hawaii, the Cayman Islands, and Arizona.

Hoppe has more than 24 years of experience in auto liability, general liability, and workers’ compensation claims management.

Hoppe joins from Sedgwick CMS, where he spent 12 years in a variety of claims management roles and served clients including PepsiCo, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and Academy Sports and Outdoors.

Prior to joining Sedgwick, he held positions at Carl Warren & Company, Royal & SunAlliance, Holmes Murphy & Associates, and as a captain in the US Army Reserve.

Lance Abbott, president of BevCap Management, said the company had found the need to add a seasoned claims professional to the staff "to manage the three third-party administrators (TPA) and dozens of adjusters covering 33 states and well over 100 captive owners".

Abbott added: "We sought to identify an individual with the proper tools to manage our growing casualty division claims and litigation management demands."

"We believe that Hoppe, with his deep understanding of TPA operations and experience managing a team of adjusters handling fortune 500 companies, is the perfect team member to direct these operations."
