The time is right for European expansion, says SRS

The timing of Strategic Risk Solution’s (SRS) European expansion is right with Solvency II beginning to bed down, according to Stuart King, president and CEO of SRS Europe.

SRS has launched an operation in Dublin to serve multinational captive insurance owners operating in Europe.

The new operation will provide a full range of risk consulting and captive insurance management services.

Solvency II has been a challenge for many captive owners in Europe and with last year being the first year of implementation, King suggested “captive owners are now open and very keen to grow and put more strategic focus on their captives”.

King will lead and oversee the firm’s operations in the start-up stages. He will then move onto leading the risk consulting business and focus on risk finance advisory services and new opportunities in the evolving insurtech space.

He has previously held risk finance advisory, insurance and captive management roles, and has experience in financial, regulatory and capital reporting of structured finance solutions.

Brady Young, president and CEO of SRS North America, explained that expanding into Europe is a “natural growth opportunity” for the company.

Young said: “Having previously worked in Europe, I have always been interested in working with Europe-based clients and partners.”

According to Andrew Berry, COO of SRS, consulting is a “key part” of the company’s value proposition in North America.

Berry said: “We are looking to take a similar approach in Europe leading with strong risk and captive consulting and building the captive management capabilities in the domiciles that our clients favour.”
