Guy Carpenter promotes senior staff in Asia Pacific

Guy Carpenter & Company has appointed Tony Gallagher as CEO of the Asia Pacific region, while promoting Richard Jones to chairman of the region.

Gallagher, based in Hong Kong, will be responsible for strengthening the company’s market position across the Asia Pacific and enhancing its client service capabilities.

He will report to James Nash, the international president at Guy Carpenter.

In his new role, Jones will work closely to Gallagher to further develop the company’s growth strategy for the region. Based in Singapore, Jones will continue to serve as head of Singapore, also reporting to Nash.

Commenting on the promotions, Nash said: “With more than 22 years of reinsurance market experience, spanning London, Tokyo and Sydney, Tony Gallagher has been instrumental to our strong growth in the Pacific area, and particularly in Australia, since joining in 2013.”

He added: “Richard Jones has been part of Guy Carpenter’s Asia Pacific team since 1987, and has been responsible for leading and growing our business activities in South East Asia for the last 16 years. He brings to the role of chairman an incredible insight into all facets of the reinsurance industry in Asia Pacific.”

“Working in tandem, Gallagher and Jones will drive forward our growth strategy for the region, bolster our capabilities and continue to deliver the exceptional level of service our clients demand.”
