Bermuda experts host captive education event in Chile and Peru

The Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA) is set to host forums in Chile and Peru to discuss the benefits of Bermuda’s captive insurance industry.

The forums are being held to allow the BDA to meet with prospects and service providers who may want to learn more about the captive insurance and reinsurance market in Bermuda.

The events will take place in Santiago, Chile on 28 March and Lima, Peru on 30 March.

Jereme Ramsay, BDA business development manager for the risk sector, said: “Bermuda has seen encouraging interest from the Latin American market, with the establishment of three new captive insurers out of Chile, Colombia and Mexico in 2016."

He added: "Our delegation will continue to educate industry partners in the region and look to connect business with our local stakeholders. This collaboration between Bermuda's public and private sector significantly enhances opportunities for new business leads for our captive insurance market."

Two panels will be held during each event. The first will discuss captive solutions and strategies while the second will focus on regulation, tax and legal frameworks.
