The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has named its committee chairs and vice chairs for 2017.
David Mattax, commissioner of the Texas Department of Insurance has been named chair of the financial regulation standards and accreditation committee, and Todd Kiser, commissioner of the Utah Insurance Department will become vice chair.
The new chair of the international insurance relations committee has been named as Katherine Wade, commissioner of the Connecticut Insurance Department, while Gordon Ito, commissioner of the Hawaii Insurance Division, has been appointed vice chair.
Stephen Robertson, commissioner of the Indiana Department of Insurance has been assigned to chair the market regulation and consumer affairs committee.
The NAIC also named vice chairs of the committee as Laura Cali Robinson, commissioner of the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services and the Division of Financial Regulation, and Allen Kerr, commissioner of the Arkansas Insurance Department.
Eric Cioppa, superintendent of the Maine Department of Professional and Financial Regulation and Bureau of Insurance, has been appointed chair of the financial condition committee, while Ken Selzer, commissioner of the Kansas Insurance Department, has been assigned the role of vice chair of the committee.
Bruce Ramge, director of the Nebraska Department of Insurance, has been appointed to the role of life insurance and annuities committee chair, while Dean Cameron, director of the Idaho Department of Insurance, has been named vice chair.
The new chair of the health insurance and managed care committee has been named as Al Redmer Jr, commissioner of the Maryland Insurance Administration. Lori Wing-Heier, director of the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development, Division of Insurance, will take on the role of vice chair.
John Doak, commissioner of the Oklahoma Insurance Department has been named chair of the property and casualty insurance committee, and David Altmaier, commissioner of the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, has been given the role of vice chair.
According to Ted Nickel, NAIC president and Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner, the NAIC's membership base is “filled with great depth of experience”.
