Chester succeeds Bacon as CEO of Bowring Marsh

Marsh has appointed Andrew Chester as CEO of Bowring Marsh, Marsh’s specialist international placement broking division. Chester’s London based position will commence on October 1 2012.

Chester will also be retaining his responsibilities as chairman of Marsh’s Global Mining Practice.

David Batchelor, president of Marsh’s international division, said: “Andrew is extremely well qualified for this role, having worked in the London and international insurance market for over 25 years, almost all of which have been at Marsh.”

“As someone who has worked with some of the world’s largest multinational companies to develop and execute complex and detailed risk transfer strategies, he is ideally suited to take Bowring Marsh to the next stage in its development.”

Commenting on his new appointment Chester said:

“I am excited by the opportunity to lead the excellent team at Bowring Marsh. With the number of companies seeking foreign growth opportunities continuing to rise, demand is growing for insurance capacity that can meet a firm’s particular needs wherever in the world it is located. I know that all our colleagues worldwide are committed to delivering the innovative and nimble service these global organisations need to grow their businesses and thrive and I am proud to be leading them as we continue to enhance our offering.”

Chester succeeds Nick Bacon who is leaving Marsh to pursue other opportunities, after 26 years at the firm.

“I would like to thank Nick Bacon for his superb contribution to Marsh over many years. As CEO of Bowring Marsh, he has overseen its expansion to encompass Bermuda, Dubai, Dublin, London, Hong Kong, Madrid, Miami, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Tokyo, Zurich, Beijing and Shanghai. This has given us a strong platform to access capacity directly in every major global insurance hub on behalf of clients,” said David Batchelor.
