Sapiens International Corporation appoints Maroun Mourad as chief executive officer for North America. Mourad joins the senior leadership team of the insurance software provider. Mourad arrives from Clarivate, having served as president of the intellectual property division there. Before that Mourad spent a decade at Verisk as president of global claims, global underwriting, life and international, and sat on the Verisk senior operating committee. Earlier roles include chairman and chief executive officer of the Middle East business of Zurich Insurance Group, and senior leadership positions at Arch Reinsurance, AIG and Gen Re in the US, the UK and Europe. Sapiens credits Mourad with more than 27 years of leadership across property and casualty (P&C), life and annuities, reinsurance, data analytics and technology. Paul Wheeler, chief executive officer of Sapiens, says: "North American insurers are under more pressure than ever to move faster, price risk more accurately and serve customers better. Maroun has spent his career leading exactly that kind of change, at carriers, at reinsurers and at the data and software businesses that serve them." Mourad says: "Insurers in North America face rising complexity and customer expectations, and they need partners who deliver measurable gains in accuracy, productivity, growth and compliance." Sapiens provides insurance software covering policy, underwriting, claims, reinsurance, finance and compliance, and states that more than 600 insurers in over 30 countries run on its platform. The company serves property and casualty, life, reinsurance, specialty and workers’ compensation writers from offices in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, including Israel, where it was founded. Sapiens is headquartered in London and has been owned by private equity firm Advent International since a take-private transaction valued at about US$2.5 billion.
