Blackwell Captive Solutions has partnered with Apta Health to offer Apta Cash, a guided cash-pay care service, to employers participating in Blackwell's group medical stop-loss captive programmes. The offering is available to members of Humboldt Health, Blackwell's Missouri-domiciled group medical stop-loss captive for cannabis employers. Apta Cash guides employees to providers, helps secure transparent cash pricing and coordinates payment for eligible care. According to Blackwell, members who follow the guided process may have little to no out-of-pocket cost, subject to plan design and eligibility requirements. Blackwell states that the service is particularly relevant to Humboldt Health because cannabis businesses often operate in cash-heavy environments and face benefit administration conditions that do not always fit conventional models. The firm adds that Apta Cash is not a standalone product for its clients, but sits alongside the medical stop-loss cover, risk management, captive structure and data management that Blackwell already provides. Scott Byrne, president of Blackwell Captive Solutions, says: "Employers should not have to choose between a better care experience and better cost control. "Apta Cash gives our brokers and employer clients a practical way to address both. It helps employees get care with less friction while giving employers a more transparent way to pay for it." Melissa Saturnino, chief operating officer of Apta Health, adds: "Our mission with Apta Cash has always been simple: take the inflated costs, complexity, and uncertainty out of healthcare. "Our partnership with Blackwell advances that mission by connecting members to the right care with transparent, upfront pricing, creating a better experience for members and more predictable healthcare costs for employers."
