Captive Resources names Curry head of health solutions underwriting

Captive Resources appoints Andy Curry as head of health solutions underwriting. Curry is responsible for underwriting strategy, technical underwriting and underwriting operations, and serves as a key point of contact for carrier partners. He reports to Steve Gransbury, president of health solutions, and joins the health solutions leadership team. He joins from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, where he was vice president and chief underwriter, providing strategic direction across the organisation’s commercial underwriting programmes. His responsibilities there extended beyond medical stop-loss to large employer, pharmacy and retention underwriting, as well as product and pricing strategy and key carrier and reinsurance relationships. Curry began his career at Sun Life Financial as a stop-loss underwriter before joining Tufts Health Plan, where his responsibilities covered both fully insured and self-funded business. He later joined Berkley Accident and Health, where he led a team of stop-loss underwriters and supported underwriting operations and strategic initiatives. He has more than 20 years of underwriting and leadership experience, with roots in medical stop-loss. Gransbury says: "Andy brings the combination of deep technical stop-loss expertise and broad underwriting leadership experience that will be incredibly valuable as we continue to grow Health Solutions. His experience leading underwriting strategy and operations, coupled with his understanding of the broader healthcare landscape, will further strengthen our underwriting capabilities and the support we provide to our carrier partners, brokers, and members." Captive Resources says it advises 55 property and casualty and medical stop loss group captives, comprising nearly 8,000 member companies and more than US$6 billion in annual premium, which have returned more than US$4.7 billion in dividends to their members.
