Zurich selects Alex Wells as chief executive officer of Zurich US, subject to customary approvals. He leads the business effective immediately. Wells takes the role following the departure of Sierra Signorelli. He was previously president of Zurich US middle market, programmes, captives and direct markets, which together comprise the largest business within Zurich US, and served on the Zurich US executive committee. He has led the middle market business for the past six years since joining Zurich in 2020, guiding it to double-digit growth while expanding underwriting and risk engineering capabilities, strengthening local market presence and advancing specialised risk solutions and broker tools. Wells has more than 25 years of experience in commercial insurance and held senior leadership roles at Chubb and ACE before joining Zurich. He will be based at Zurich US headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, pending approval of the appointment. Mario Greco, group chief executive officer of Zurich Insurance Group, says: "Alex has deep expertise in large global accounts and midmarket customers, wholesale casualty and specialty verticals, and he has managed different distribution models. He has a strong track record of delivering results, developing talent and helping teams perform at their best. His appointment positions us to build on the progress made in recent years." Greco adds: "We thank Sierra for her contribution and commitment during her time with us and wish her all the best in her future endeavours." Wells says: "I am honoured by the opportunity to lead Zurich U.S. We are operating from a foundation of strength, supported by talented employees, strong customer and broker relationships, and a clear strategy. Our focus remains unchanged: delivering for customers, supporting our distribution partners and executing with discipline in the market."
