Captives.Insure appoints Grady Marshall as chief operating officer. Marshall leads the buildout of the firm’s service, policy administration and technology functions, and carries accountability for execution on behalf of its insureds, captive clients, fronting carriers and captive management partners. He arrives with 16 years of brokerage and captive leadership spanning single parent, group and cell structures for mid-market insureds, with direct accountability for the operational side of programmes rather than placement alone. Marshall joins from Sequoia Risk Partners, where he is director of alternative risk. He was previously a commercial insurance broker at Cobb Strecker Dunphy & Zimmermann for eight years, and began his career at Commerce Real Estate Solutions as a property manager and then commercial real estate broker. Marshall says he has led the formation and management of more than 50 captive insurance companies across a range of industries, working with stakeholders to identify risk exposures, design insurance structures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Nate Reznicek, ACI, president and principal consultant at Captives.Insure, says: "Firms like ours are usually judged on production. The ones that last are judged on infrastructure. Those are the questions I’ve been most focused on this year, and they’re the reason this seat mattered more than any other hire we could have made." Captives.Insure says the appointment reflects a conviction that captives are not reserved for the largest organisations and that groups are not the only option. The firm says disciplined operations, better education and the smart application of technology put alternative risk financing within reach of far more businesses than the traditional market assumes.
