Insurance Ireland confirms Tilman Lueder, head of the insurance and pensions unit at the European Commission’s DG FISMA, as a speaker at the European Insurance Forum (EIF) 2026. The forum takes place on 22 October at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, bringing together senior policymakers, regulators and industry leaders. Insurance Ireland says Lueder brings experience across financial services, capital markets, competition and European policy, and will offer an EU perspective on the future of insurance in Europe. Lueder has headed the insurance and pensions unit since September 2024, leading a team of 18 specialists. The unit’s remit covers the Solvency II framework, the global Insurance Capital Standard, the design and distribution of insurance and pension products, motor insurance and climate-related insurance coverage gaps. EIF 2026 runs under the theme A Stronger Europe: Insurance as a Catalyst for Competitiveness and Resilience, examining how insurance can address Europe’s competitiveness and long-term investment challenges. The forum takes place during Ireland’s EU Presidency and will explore how insurers can mobilise savings and deploy capital in support of the EU’s Savings and Investments Union, Capital Markets Union and Ireland for Finance 2030. First held in 1999, EIF is described by Insurance Ireland as a signature event in the Irish and European reinsurance and captive calendars, considering the strategic trends and challenges affecting the reinsurance and captive industry. Insurance Ireland is the representative organisation for the insurance sector in Ireland, with more than 119 members. Ireland is the fourth-largest insurance market in the European Union.
