eMaxx widens eligibility for excess captive programme

eMaxx expands its Excess Captive Insurance Program, powered by the eMaxx Reciprocal Insurance Exchange, to businesses using either a captive insurance or large deductible structure for their underlying insurance, subject to certain risk management standards being in place. The programme is fronted by an insurer carrying an 'A' rating from AM Best and offers US$5 million in limits with a minimum attachment of US$5 million, with higher limits available through facultative reinsurance. Qualifying companies must operate risk management technology on commercial vehicles capable of detecting distracted driving and other unsafe driving events, an active driver monitoring programme, a progressive disciplinary programme for unsafe driving behaviour, and an ongoing driver training programme. eMaxx verifies through technology that those measures are in place and that companies are acting to correct poor driver behaviour. Richard Metivier, executive vice president, distribution, at eMaxx, says: “Expanding eligibility for the Excess Captive Program allows more companies to benefit from the risk management standards we know reduce losses. By verifying that these measures are actually in place, we can offer qualifying members more competitive pricing while continuing to hold the programme to a high standard.” Each member is assigned a loss compliance representative who carries out an onsite evaluation of the company's operations. Members also receive the Mongoose RM Quarterly Summary, a gap analysis identifying areas of exposure, including those that plaintiff attorneys commonly target using reptile theory tactics. The programme also provides access to the eMaxx Telematics Exchange, giving visibility into vehicle utilisation and operations, including whether vehicles operate in plaintiff-oriented jurisdictions, alongside driver performance data such as speeding and other safety events. Underwriters can review several months of telematics data on a prospective policyholder before binding cover. Michael Windstein, executive vice president, underwriting, at eMaxx, adds: “With flexible attachment points and the ability to layer in facultative reinsurance where needed, we can structure a programme around what each company actually requires, rather than a one-size-fits-all tower.” eMaxx is a managing general agent and attorney-in-fact providing commercial property and casualty insurance and reinsurance through policyholder-owned alternative risk programmes. Group company eCaptiv is a licensed sponsored captive insurance company, while the eMaxx Reciprocal Insurance Exchange is a commercial property and casualty reciprocal insurer owned by its policyholder subscribers.
