Aon launches enterprise AI risk diagnostic

Aon launches an AI Risk Diagnostic, an enterprise-level assessment designed to help organisations understand and manage risk associated with artificial intelligence. The diagnostic provides a structured view of AI governance, maturity and risk exposure as the technology becomes more widely embedded across business operations. Built by Aon's Global Risk Consulting team, the assessment aligns with frameworks and guidance including standards from the International Organization for Standardization, the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act and the National Institute of Standards and Technology AI Risk Management Framework. Client inputs are analysed through two lenses. The AI Maturity Analysis assesses the maturity of AI governance, lifecycle management, processes and controls, while the AI Risk Taxonomy Analysis identifies areas where AI may create new risks or amplify existing exposures across an organisation. Clients receive tailored reporting covering an overall assessment of AI maturity, key governance gaps and priority areas for action, alongside visual dashboards, heat maps and risk exposure mapping across AI risk domains. The reporting also sets out prioritised recommendations intended to strengthen governance, controls, compliance and resilience. Aon says that by linking AI maturity with risk exposure, the diagnostic helps organisations identify governance gaps and understand where AI may be creating operational, regulatory, cyber, liability and business risks. Richard Waterer, Aon global risk consulting leader, says: “Artificial intelligence is creating significant opportunities for organisations, but it is also introducing new and increasingly complex risk considerations across governance, compliance, operations and resilience.” Waterer adds: “As boards, regulators and stakeholders seek greater visibility into how AI is being deployed and governed, organisations need a clearer understanding of their AI maturity, control environment and exposure. Our AI Risk Diagnostic helps provide that visibility, enabling leaders to make better-informed decisions about governance, oversight and responsible innovation.” The launch builds on Aon's wider investment in data, analytics and technology-enabled capabilities, alongside offerings including Aon Broker Copilot, Aon Claims Copilot and the firm's Risk Analyzer suite. Aon operates in more than 120 countries across its risk capital and human capital businesses. The firm is also one of the largest captive managers globally through Aon Captive & Insurance Management.
